FAQ: change muscle activation level

Post by Ruiyi Tang » Wed Jun 09, 2010 6:46 pm

Hi everyone
I am recently running the "arm26" model and wanted to see how the other muscle activation would change, if one specific muscle's activation level is limited(e.g. BIClong).

I found on the SIMM user guide that there are 2 ways to do this:

1. Edit muscle file(.msl), name the parameter 'activation' and follow it the wanted activation level.

2. Edit motion file(.mot), creat a new column in the motion file, titled the specific muscle's name and specify it's activation level at every moment.

I tried both these two ways, and from the static optimiztion results, it looks like nothing changed at all.

I'm wondering if these methods utilized in SIMM is not available for Opensim simulation.

If so, some other ways to specify muscle activation level?

Or, it's even not a parameter that we can modify in Opensim software?
