Muscle - lever arm (moment arm)

Post by Vinzenz Hoeck » Wed Oct 19, 2022 11:27 am

Hi OpenSim Team,

I am currently working on a project and use OpenSim as reference to verify my calculations, in my research I used the Computed Muscle Control tool to get the muscle activation/muscle force to perform a given movement. Now I was wondering if there is an easy way to get the corresponding lever arm of each muscle to make conclusions about the resulting moment on the joint. Or directly save the moment each muscle produces in a .sto file.

I used the Arm26 model, I tried to get the lever arms by with the given muscle path, but I believe there must be another and more accurate way (similar to 'arm26_Actuation_force.sto', but to save the actuation moments).

Thank you very much for your help in advance! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Kind regards! ๐Ÿ™‚

The MuscleAnalysis tool may be helpful for you here to get different moments generated by muscles and moment arms for each muscle. The documentation page on how to use Analyses in general can help you get started: https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8 ... m/Analyses
