Less Quad Muscles in New Version?

Post by Rahul Goel » Sat Jul 31, 2010 10:12 pm

Hi
I just observed that the newest version of OpenSim (2.0.2) has only two muscles of the quadriceps. Whereas earlier version I used last year (1.5 may be?), had all four.
Quad muscles were of special interest to me.
Was just little surprised to see less muscles in new version?

Rahul

PS: I also need to use Joint Reaction forces, which were not possible in old version, so I need to use the new version.

Hi Rahul,

We distribute multiple models with OpenSim including gait2392_simbody (23 dof, 94 muscles) and gait2354_simbody (23 dof, 54 muscles). The model with reduced number of muscles runs CMC faster but is simplified down and is not used for actual research on gait. Can you please report the file name and distribution you're using where you found fewer muscles? Note that OpenSim is backwards compatible so if you have a model that you developed in an earlier version of the software then you should be able to use it in more recent versions.

Hope this helps,
-Ayman
