Force-driven forward dynamics

Post by pauline pechereau » Tue Nov 21, 2023 5:43 am

Hi everyone,

I'm new to OpenSim and I was wondering if it is possible to prescribe muscle forces instead of muscle excitations as input for a forward dynamics simulation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Pauline

It would likely be very difficult to try to set the exact force using muscles, since they have complicated force-length and velocity relationships, as well as excitation-activation dynamics. To simplify the problem, it may be better to use PathActuator's instead (documentation). Some information about how an OpenSim Model works can be found on its documentation page.
