Body Force vs. Point Force

Post by Maria Isabel Orselli » Wed Feb 23, 2011 6:26 am

Hi,

maybe it is a silly question but I would like to know the difference between body force and point force in the Create/Edit Prescribed Force Panel.
Both types of force allow for the "Applies Torque" option. Where is this torque applied when you choose for the Body Force ?

thanks
Maria Isabel

Hi Maria,

A BodyForce is applied at the center of mass of the body as opposed to a specified point in the respective body frame.

Hope this helps,
