Markers

Post by joana baptista » Wed Sep 14, 2011 7:26 am

Hi,

I know that I can add markers to my model through the API. My question is: Can I guide the markers coordinates, in order to guide my model, and perform a forward dynamic analysis?

Hi Joana,

Can you please explain what you mean by "guide the markers" ?

Forward dynamic simulation integrates the equations of motion. If you want to prescribe some coordinates then it's a "tracking" problem which we can handle in OpenSim too but is not a conventional forward dynamics simulation. Please send more details about what you're trying to do so we can help point you in the right direction.

Good luck,

Hi Ayman,

I have created an .osim model which consists of a leg, a foot and also an Ankle Foot Orthosis acquired by a non-contact 3D scanner. I have created the meshes for these "parts" and implemented the Elastic Foundation Contact Model to study the contact forces distribution.
The idea is to analyse where, with this type of AFO, I get the maximum and minimum forces along the leg, during a gait cycle.

I am trying to understand what is the best way to perform a forward dynamic analyses, specifying some coordinates, since I have a trajectory that I want to prescribe.

What happens is that the only "coordinate set" that my foot-leg model has is the "coordinate set" defined by the joint that connects the foot and the leg. And the experimental data that I have correspond to markers in other places.
I'm just trying to figure out the possibilities that I have to make this, that's why I asked about the markers.
I'm sorry if, sometimes, I don't explain myself in the best way.
Can I have your opinion about what could be the best solution to my problem?

Joana
