Static Optimization with weld constraint failing

Post by Jim Ucic » Wed Nov 29, 2017 4:14 am

Hello !

This is my first project in Opensim and I am trying to monitor muscle activation of leg muscles during a squat.
I am using gait2392 model and making the motion file(.mot) from a motion captured in experiments.
I don't have the capability to measure ground reaction forces, so I am trying to weld the feet to ground, but every single static optimization which I run with weld constraints fail.
When I run the simulation without weld constraints , it manages to get me a solution ,but I know that is wrong.
I am using reserve actuators in both cases.

Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you!

You must try to understand why the simulation fails. It may be that the motion you supply do not satisfy the constraints. You can also try to model the GRF forces by adding a BuchingForce at the feet.
