Using both Opensim 4.0 and 3.3 with Matlab?

I am looking to try and use both Opensim 4.0 and 3.3 with matlab without having to constantly toggle back and forth between Opensim versions by manually changing my Environment Variables. Are there any work-arounds to this issue so that I can use both versions of Opensim in matlab? Would having 2 different versions of matlab aid in this issue?

A virtual machine may be useful.

Why do need to toggle between versions a lot?
