Scaling in 4.0

Post by Sofía Iranzo » Thu May 02, 2019 6:00 am

Hi everyone,

I am having troubles scaling in version OpenSim 4.0. Using same model (Gait2354) and same .trc files it does scale very well in OpenSim 3.3. Nevertheless, when trying in 4.0 it gets stuck in "scaling" and never ends.

Is this anything reported previously? Do you know if there would be any reason for that?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Sofia

Hi Sofia,

The scaling process has not changed much in 4.0 from 3.3, some possible issues that explain the difference in behavior though:
1. Naming convention for Model components, Markers have been made more strict. Check for messages to indicate such change. possibly a red stop sign at the lower right corner of the application if an exception is not handled gracefully.
2. We had issues in the past with scaling looking like freezing because the setup files specified writing intermediate files to the Program's working directory which is likely not permitted.

I'd try to separate if this is model specific (by running the tutorial 3 files out of the box) and if they work, compare against your own model/setup/data-files. If they don't work or get stuck as well then we can focus on your machine/environment.

Hope this helps,
-Ayman

Thank you very much, you were really kind answering. I'll try to do as you suggest.

Thanks again,
