update or change the existing model

Post by Jiamin Zhao » Mon Jul 08, 2019 12:10 am

Hi all,
Recently, I planned to combine an existing upper limb model and EMG to predict wrist motion. But the model I adopted has many muscles and bones that I am not interested in.
I want to ask that if I want to delete these muscles and bones, how can I do? Can I just delete the correspongding parts in XML file ? WIll that influnence predicted values, like forces or other results?
Thank you very much.
I am looking forward for your reply!

Regards,
Jiamin

Hi, Jiamin-

You could open the model in a text editor and delete the bodies, joints, and muscles that you don't need. just be careful since there may be other components in the model that refer to a deleted body, joint, or muscle.

The influence of changing a model is completely dependent on the model itself and how you intend to use it. I suggest you read this paper and do some experimentation with your model to understand the influence of your changes.

Goodluck!

Hi, James

Thanks for your advice. I will have a try to delete some muscles.
