Inverse Dynamics - external loads

Hi,

The Inverse Dynamics Tool enables the input of an external loads file including reaction forces and torques. But, isn't it correct that the acting external torques are normally just generated from the acting external forces? So do I have to include the torques for every motion or just for those motions where there are torques acting additionally to the torques induced by the external forces?

I hope somebody can help me.
Thank you very much.

Pia

Not necessary. An exerted force can induce a torque depending on the location of the application. If you apply a force that passes through the center of mass or rotation, then there is only force, but if you offset this force, then there is also a moment and a point associated with it.
