Bone models not showing up

Post by Raj Patel » Tue Sep 01, 2020 4:01 pm

I am doing the Tutorial 1. I am trying to open the "gait2392_simbody.osim" and I am not able to see the bone models. I can only see the muscles in the visualizer. Can anyone tell me how to get the bone models to show up in the visualizer?

Thanks in advance.
Raj Patel.

Hi Raj,

If you look at the Messages window, your OpenSim can't find the .vtp files for most of your bones.

I've had these problems across a few installations on my Mac; until there's a permanent fix, you can search your computer to see if any other folders have the missing files (such as "hat_skull.vtp" or "vtp") and copy those files to your Gait2392 folder. (You can also find them a little more easily if you download OpenSim Moco.)

When I've had this issue in the past, I had to uninstall and reinstall OpenSim to get most of the bones to show up, but I still have to paste my tibia and femur files manually every time I reinstall.

Let me know if you need help finding the files until someone posts a more thorough fix,
Nicole

(Edited for spelling of "thorough")

Hello,

Please check the FAQ page here under "how do I tell OpenSim how to locate bone files"
https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu/d ... +Questions

Typically (for models in the tutorials or included in the distribution) these mesh files would be under the installation folder (e.g. C:\OpenSim 4.1\Geometry on windows). For custom mesh files you need to explicitly tell the application where they are located (unless in the same folder as the model .osim file or in a Geometry subfolder underneath it).

Hope this helps,
-Ayman

Thank you for your help. I had to change the path in preferences. It is working now.

Thanks,
Raj Patel.
