Using CEINMS vs Static Optimization for Squats Exercises

Hello,

I was looking into CEINMS and read a paper about its pros and cons and how it compares to the static optimization. I am trying to estimate joint reaction force after calculating the muscle forces and I was wondering if CEINMS can be applied to squats or other exercises that require a more dynamic range of the knee.

Hi,

We have used CEINMS for the upper limb for an arm elevation from pelvis to eye level, so I guess it should be possible.
However, your model would need calibration, and you would need some EMG data, if you don't want to use static optimization.
