Clarification with Static Optimization output files

Greetings,

I have been trying to figure out how to get EMG information provided an Inverse Kinematic Solution using the static optimization tool. After running the tool I get 3 files, subject_Activation.sto, subject_control.xml, and subject_force.sto. I would like to know whether the subject_Activation.sto contains the EMG data information needed to perform the prescribed actions given the ik solution, likewise, does the subject_control.sto file contains the information about the forces exerted by the muscles? if that is the case, which are the units of these values, EMG and Force?

Regards,

Please see the "Getting Started with Static Optimization" page in the Confluence documentation (https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu/d ... timization)---specifically, the "Outputs" section. A more detailed discussion of the relationship between excitation, activation, and EMG can be found in Hicks et al. (2015) "Is my model good enough? Best practices for verification and validation of musculoskeletal models and simulations of movement", http://nmbl.stanford.edu/publications/pdf/Hicks2015.pdf. See, for example, the Case Study on page 17.
