OpenSim 2D

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to run a 2D simulation and/or build/scale a 2D model in OpenSim. With that being said, am I able to import 2D (x,y) data that I have already collected, into OpenSim for scaling from a default 3D model? Could I just set the z-coordinates to be 0?

I've researched extensively and have found a couple papers that (*may* because they don't explicitly mention using OpenSim for the 2D modeling, only the 3D modeling) have used OpenSim for generating 2D models/simulations. They did not show any graphics, images, or description of how they created such a model/simulation. No source code was provided either.

Any insight into if this is possible would be very helpful and great. Thank you so much!

There are several options, perhaps the simplest of which would be to use a planar model and project your data onto this plane. Of course, the best model to use depends on your research question. You might want to look at the leg6dof9musc and arm26 models that are distributed with OpenSim.

I will definitely try that out and look more into it. Thank you for the suggestion!
