Attach a muscle on another muscle

Post by Bach Quoc Hoa » Wed Mar 31, 2021 1:58 am

Dear the OpenSim team,

I want to simulate a surgical intervention. It is a transfer of the rectus femoris muscle where the rectus femoris (RF) tendon is separated from the vastus muscle and then sutured to the gracilis (GRAC) tendon.

Here is an article about the procedure
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 6813000297

My first idea is to find a way to attach the RF muscle to the GRAC muscle in OpenSim. However, I couldn't find any solution yet.
Is it possible to perform this kind of muscle attachment with OpenSim? If it's not the case, could you please suggest any solution to work around this problem?

Thank you in advance!

Perhaps take a look at "Tutorial 2 - Simulation and Analysis of a Tendon Transfer Surgery" (https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu/d ... er+Surgery). It may not answer all your questions but might give you some ideas about how to proceed.
