Squat motion knee contact force validation.

I am validating 2 leg squat knee joint contact forces using Rajagopal model/catelli model by Static optimization followed by joint reaction analysis.
I am using same data of grand design challenge but no model can predict joint contact force.
Predicted loads are much higher(5 times body weight) than in vivo measurements(2 times body weight). is there any other method to predict joint contact load?.
If I increase reserve actuator optimum force then predicted force match vivo data. But reserve force are around 40.
What should I do?

Hi Rohan,

There are a lot of other studies that have estimated knee contact forces in squatting, so I would first take a look at them and see how your estimates compare:

I would guess this force depends heavily on the type of squat (static vs. dynamic), depth of squat, and of course if a barbell is involved.

2x bodyweight seems low to me, but I'm not familiar with the conditions of the Grand Challenge data for squatting.

Thanks for response,
I have gone through literature it seem no model predicts squat motion
Take this example

Any help is highly appreciated.
