Static Optimization

Post by Songning Zhang » Mon Apr 13, 2009 7:49 pm

I am using the static optimization to estimate Hamstrings muscle forces. I followed these steps:

1)Used the provided gait2392 model and an input motion file (fast running) which has the IK data to scale the model and run inverse dynamics in OpenSim.

2)Used the output from the inverse dynamics to run static optimization. I tried both ^2 and ^3 in the

3)After it is done, I used the plot function to examine/save the muscle forces.

However, I had problems with the computed muscles forces after the static optimization process was completed. The forces do not seem to be correct. I hope some of you can provide some pointers.

Dear Songning,

I believe your setup files for Inverse Dynamics do not apply ground reaction forces. Please check the box for "External Loads" and point to a separate file that contains ground reaction forces (similar to our examples) and you should get more reasonable results.

Good luck,
