I'd like to do both forward and inverse simulation for a person with thoracic scoliosis. Is it possible to do this on OpenSim?

Hi, yes this is possible. It is the focus of my current work. Others have already published papers on this, I would recommend reading them:

Spinal Compressive Forces in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis With and Without Carrying Loads: A Musculoskeletal Modeling Study by Schmid et al. 2020
https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10 ... 00159/full

and

Development and validation of a modeling workflow for the generation of image-based, subject-specific thoracolumbar models of spinal deformity by Overbergh et al. 2020
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 7xUfhUzDVU

Until now I have not seen a scoliotic model of the spine that can be downloaded. As a base model which you can edit to create a scoliotic model I would suggest you look at the model by Bruno et al.
Development and Validation of a Musculoskeletal Model of the Fully Articulated Thoracolumbar Spine and Rib Cage by Bruno et al. 2015
https://asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/ ... FmzXpS_nzg
The model by Bruno et al. can be downloaded here: https://simtk.org/projects/spine_ribcage/

If instead you are wanting to model the adolescents population start from the model developed by Schmid et al. 2020, Musculoskeletal full-body models includeing a detailed thoracolumbar spine for children and adolescents aged 6-18 years
This model can be download here: https://simtk.org/projects/spine-children

Good luck,
Samuele
