Visualizing the models the next day

I am having the issue of the visualizer window not working with the models being frozen (e.g. not playing model motion, not allowing me to hide models or show only) when I leave OpenSim open over the night and try to come back to it the next day. I can still change display settings (e.g. changing background color). It forces me to close the program down and reopen all of my models. As this is occurring only after coming back to the program the next day, I suspect this has to do with one of my computer or display options, which I am happy to change if I knew which one. But is there some operation I can do or change in OpenSim to wake up the visualizer in the morning?

Running OpenSim 4.3 on Windows 10E, NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 graphics card

is this a screensaver option, sleep issue, power issue?

Hi Robert,

There are multiple factors that come into play that boil down to the server (run by the OpenSim application) timing out because there's no activity for a long duration. On some platforms when the machine sleep/wakeup the communication resumes, but typically when the machine is up and there's no activity the connection times out and can't be restored. The computation will continue but you'll need to restart the application for the visualization to resume. Tumbling the views and zooming doesn't require connection to server so is unaffected by this behavior.

Ideally the application is used for interactive activities and long computations are done using the scripting interfaces where results can be inspected/visualized in the application post-hoc.

Hope this helps,
