Regrading selection of marker pairs for scaling

Post by Jobin Geevarghese ThampI » Sun Jul 03, 2022 9:33 am

Hi all, suppose if i select 2 marker pairs {RASIS,LASIS} and {RPSIS,LPSIS} for pelvis, how is the scaling function happening?. I am not getting a clear idea on selecting 2 marker pairs for scaling and also suppose if i keep a marker on top head of the model and get the scale factor for height purpose, where can i enter that manual sale factor?... i asked this because i will be be using edit measurement set for each and every bodies like torso, femur etc and if use all these bodies for scaling purpose will i be able to enter that scale factor manually? or should i enter that scale fator manually in the torso field?..

I think these questions may be answered in the "Scaling" section of the User's Guide (https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8 ... im/Scaling). Please see, in particular, the "How Scaling Works" page. There is also a webinar posted to YouTube that discusses related issues: "OpenSim Webinar: Tips and Tricks for Data Collection, Scaling and Inverse Kinematics in OpenSim", https://youtu.be/ZG7wzvQC6eU. Yes, you can enter manual scale factors in the Scale Tool, but scale factors are applied to individual body segments. If you have a desired model height, you could calculate the scale factors for each body segment by hand or let the Scale Tool calculate them for you.
