Analyzing a full over ground gait cycle with only two force plates

I want to analyze a full stance phase (initial contact to toe off) for my motion capture data, however the lab set up only has two consecutive force plates. When running the RRA in OpenSim, I can only solve for periods of single limb support or double limb support over both plates. Therefore, I either miss out on the first limb initial contact or the second limb terminal stance to toe off (due to the contralateral limb being on the ground but not having an associated force - the model falls through the floor). Has anyone else come across this problem and how have you solved it?
I found one paper (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4423744/) that described time shifting the data from multiple trials to approximate one full stance phase, but this was from 2008 and I did not know if we had better solutions by now.
I also found two more recent papers that analyzed a full stance phase with only two force plates, but they did not include any details on how they accomplished this (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 6211007910, https://link.springer.com/article/10.10 ... 21-02337-7).
Any insight would be helpful!! Happy Holidays!
