Hi,

I would like to know if there is any minimum number of IMUs that are required to extract kinematics by walking?

It may depend on what you mean by "kinematics" (i.e. what variables you are trying to measure) and the required measurement accuracy. Wrist-worn devices provide some information using just one sensor. The suit from Xsens accommodates 17. You might want to look around in the literature for studies that have asked your question. For example: O'Day et al. (2022) Assessing inertial measurement unit locations for freezing of gait detection and patient preference. Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation 19 (https://doi.org/10.1186/s12984-022-00992-x).
