How to modify tendon stiffness?

Post by Juliet M » Tue Feb 13, 2024 3:41 am

Hello there,

I am a beginner user and I would like to modify the stiffness of the Achilles tendon on a model, for instance the 3DGaitModel2392. The aim is to observe muscular forces and muscular coordination according to several stiffnesses of the Achilles tendon as input of the model. How can I configure this input as easy as possible? I work on OpenSim 4.4.

I thank you in advance! :)

Hi, if I'm not mistaken, it can be controlled by a property related to tendon strain at maximum isometric muscle force. Depending on your muscle type, this property would be either FmaxTendonStrain in Thelen2003Muscle or strain_at_one_norm_force (in TendonForceLengthCurve) in Millard2012EquilibriumMuscle.

Interestingly, I had posted a suggestion in this regard: https://github.com/opensim-org/opensim- ... issues/172
