CMC Muscle Activations Meaning/Adjustment

Hello,
How do CMC muscle activations work/what does their amplitude mean? i.e. what does an activation of 1 mean? Is it MVC for example, or what?
I am trying to compare the muscle controls with EMG data (which is normalized to the maximum during gait), but I have no idea as to how the amplitudes should compare.
Also, control constraints can be used to turn off a muscle; but how to (force) turn on a muscle?
Any thoughts?
Thank you

Please see the Muscle Model Theory and Publications documentation page (https://opensimconfluence.atlassian.net ... blications) to better understand how activation is defined by these models.

The paper Is My Model Good Enough? Best Practices for Verification and Validation of Musculoskeletal Models and Simulations of Movement (https://nmbl.stanford.edu/publications/ ... ks2015.pdf) will also be helpful to understand how to validate your results.
