Evaluate Contact Forces and Indentations

Post by Margarida Machado » Tue Oct 05, 2010 7:58 am

Hi,

I'm building a knee model with contact at tibiofemoral joint.
How can I get the contact forces from GUI.
I run an inverse dynamic analysis, but I only got the total forces.
There is anyway to get the contact forces and the contact indentations.

Thanks,
Margarida

The ForceAnalysis option will give you this information.

Hi Margarida,

The functionality has been implemented at the SimTK layer, and will be exposed in OpenSim early next year. As of now you can only get the total forces, as you pointed out. We're not planning on reporting indentations (as these can be back-computed from the forces and material properties) but please let us know if that doesn't work for you so that we can account for it when implementing the functionality.

All the best,
-Ayman
