substitute muscle with joint torques

Can I run forward dynamics by entering directly joint torques as a substitute for muscle action?

Hi Diego,

That should be possible. Here's what you can try:
1. When setting up the forward tool, choose to "replace model actuators/forces"
2. For additional forces, add a file with Coordinate Actuators (one per joint torque) with optimal force of 1.0.
3. For controls, choose a storage file with column headers that are the same as the names of the coordinate actuators and values that are the joint torques you want to apply. You'll need to use OpenSim 2.2 release beta for that otherwise you'll need to convert the storage file to an xml file to use it for controls.

Please let me know how that goes and if you have any questions.

Best regards,
-Ayman
