How to decrease the residual value in RRA?

Post by Yi Wang » Thu Mar 24, 2011 5:28 pm

Hi Ayman,

Thanks to your help for the RRA, now they're running, you are right, if increasing the value in the file of ControlConstraints, the RRA definitely run until the end, only end up with very huge residual value? I don't know how to describe the value plotting during the RRA running, so I just attach the pic below:

First I could not run the RRA until I modified the MZ value in ControlConstraints file, from "-50 50" to "-200 200" like below:

<ControlLinear name="MZ.excitation">
<default_min> -200.0 </default_min>
<default_max> 200.0 </default_max>
</ControlLinear>

I don't know what the proper value for 6 of FX FY FZ MX MY MZ, but from the above pic I believed the MZ need bigger than -50 50 to support the motion, is that right?

So the flat line in the pic meant that FY and MX were saturated at "160" and 100 seperately? So I need to increase them also? But RRA ran until the end without crash, it meant that the FY and MX good enough?

Thanks for answering and I searched the forum and interested in how to decrease that value, the -200 200 is not realistic? Isn't it?

One more question, I finally got the result of RRA like this:

FX=15.807 FY=-49.539 FZ=3.08462
MX=-46.4236 MY=1.00674 MZ=-77.8294

is it good or not? What is the standard for that judgement?

Regards,

Yi.

Yi,

There are two good places to check out recommendations for improving RRA and CMC results:

(1) The OpenSim Wiki: http://wiki.simtk.org/opensim/
(2) The Musculoskeletal Modeler's Kitchen: http://wiki.simtk.org/modelerskitchen/ToolTips

Best,
Sam
