How to vary GRF of OpenSim model

Post by Mark Weston » Mon Apr 18, 2011 6:42 am

I am looking into the sensitivity of lower limb biomechanics to variations in the location and orientation of the ground reaction force and was just wondering whether anyone knew how I could easily manipulate the GRF of one of the opensim models in order to run the analysis with different ground reaction forces.

Many thanks

Mark,

You can't modify the magnitude/direction of the force application without some programming (which you can do completely off-line by writing different data files), but you can change the location of application by creating a massless body, welded to the foot and applying the force to that massless body, then you can modify the weld location and rerun.

Will that do the trick for you? If not please let us know your needs as we're refactoring this code for our next release and would benefit from your use case.

Best regards,
-Ayman
