Units in plotting

Post by Jarmila Behenská » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:36 am

Hello,
I am a student of Technical University in Prague and process analysis of leg movement in OpenSim.
And I had a question. I'm not sure in what units OpenSim works. Some data are degrees, others not. And I would be interested in the unit and forces, moments and lengths, or on standard length, as established for this program.
I tried to find information about units in the user program, but I was unable to find them.

Thank you for your reply.
Best regards and have a nice day.

Hi Jarmila,

The data in the plotter comes from different sources and not all of them are annotated with units. For curves that are created internally based on a model, we assume the same units as specified in the model file, usually meters for length, Newtons for forces etc. For angles, when we can detect whether these angles are in radians or degrees it's shown in the plotter (deg. or rad.).

Hope this helps and please let us know if you continue to have questions,

Best regards,
-Ayman
