anatomical landmarks in .vtp/ SIMM bones

Post by David John Saxby » Mon Apr 30, 2012 11:38 pm

Hi All,

I have a few questions about the bone files used in OpenSim.

1) Taking Hamner's model as example, are the bone files used in the lower body the same as SIMM bones? I realize they are different file formats, but is the data the same?

2) How are the origin and coordinate system defined in a bone file. Not which way is up, but how are the vectors defined. What are the anatomical points used to define the coordinate system?
Take the tibia for example, I assume z = (lateral epicondyle - medial epicondyle). How are these points identified? Manually?

Any help in this matter would be very much appreciated,

David Saxby
