Inconsistency between IK from GUI and IK from cmd line

Post by Massimo Sartori » Thu Aug 16, 2012 7:32 am

Hi all,

I am running an IK simulation (hand reaching tasks) both from the GUI and from the command line. The IK results produced by the command line simulation are substantially different from the results produced by the GUI simulation. Furthermore, results produced by the command line solution appear to be "wrong" because the experimental markers are not being properly tracked. On the other hand, the GUI simulation perfectly tracks the experimental markers.

Please note that I am using the very same OpenSim model and IK setting file both for the GUI and the cmd simulations.

The information printed out to screen during the two simulations (i.e. GUI and cmd) look different. In particular, the GUI simulation uses two analyses while the cmd line simulation uses 0 analyses. This suggests that the "code" used in the GUI differs from the "code" used by the IK executable.

I saw that a similar problem was already highlighted in the following post
https://simtk.org/forums/viewtopic.php? ... 3510#p7691

However, the solution found for that post does not work in my case.

Does anyone have a clue of what is going wrong?

Thanks a lot,

Massimo Sartori
