Creating Excitation Profiles

I am working with an upper limb model. My goal is to excite the pointer finger alone to touch the ball that the object is holding. I create an excitation profile and then run forward dynamics to create the motion.

For some reason when I am running forward dynamics I can manage to excite the three fingers other than the pointer finger. I was wondering if there was a more systematic way of exciting just one finger.

Thanks for your help,
Omar Sheikh

Hi Omar,

Do the muscles for the other fingers also exhibit excitation's? The solver could be assigning the other muscles of the hand values which would cause them to extend. You may need to prescribe zero values for those muscles or lock the joints for those fingers.

How exactly do you lock the joints? I think that would be the best option, since I'm only working with the ECRL muscle. The model I am using does not have the finger muscles.

Omar-
Go into the coordinates window and manually assign an angle for the fingers. Then you toggle the lock button thats located next to the value.
