Good afternoon to everyone.
I'm a PhD student, interested in functional methods for joint parameters assessment like centers and axes of rotation.
I've read on this web page that there could be the possibility to introduce the functional methods.
Does anybody work on?
I started to use OpenSim few weeks ago and I'm still exploring this software.
Thank you in advance for the information.
Best regards,
Giulia

Hi Giulia,
The calculation and application of functional axes and joint centers would be done outside of the OpenSim package. Matlab tends to be used for the most part.
There are a number of methods and implementations of this. However, the end goal would be to have the location of the functional joint centers and axes in your static.trc file, used for scaling. You can then scale according to the location of these points.
This paper gives a brief description of how functional methods are done and is a good starting point "http://www.jbiomech.com/article/S0021-9 ... 3/abstract".
cheers,
