Modelling external cast forces in a broken arm

Post by Dan Kritzer » Thu Jul 17, 2014 7:24 am

Hello,

I am a new user to OpenSim. Currently I am working on a project, in which we are attempting to measure the forces that a loose cast can exert on an upper arm fracture. Would something like this be possible to model in OpenSim? Thanks.

Dan

Dear Dan,
I am working on something similar, I am trying to estimate the external force that is required to align the broken femur during fracture reduction process. Were you able to get good results using Opensim and how did you proceed. I got the muscle reaction force and joint reaction force assuming a certain external force. I am not sure how to calculate the external force directly. Which analysis in the tool can I use?

Regards,
Shwetha
