Inverse Dynamics Algorithm

Hi,
I was wondering what kind of algorithm is used in the Inverse Dynamics tool. When looking at the code it seems like a least squares static optimization method. Is it the same as described by Kuo, A least-squares estimation approach to improving the precision of inverse dynamics computations in J. of Biomechanical Engineering 1998? If not is there an article/book out there on the used method?
