Ligament to Ligament Movement

Post by Kamin Beyer » Tue Mar 03, 2015 3:43 pm

Hello,

I am currently working on a model of the hand where there would be an artificial tendon piece connected between the muscle and the finger ligaments. However on trying to get this model to work the simulations are un-moving and the model acts in such a way that the force from the muscle is unable to be transferred to the finger ligaments through the artificial tendon piece, but the artificial tendon piece will move a deform to the movements of the muscles.

My major question is if it is possible to simulate a model with two ligament pieces, and a muscle attached in series, to allow movement through the entire structure. And if it is possible what are some tricks to help with that, and if it is not possible if there is a way to allow for this simulation to happened with a single ligament and having different properties at two different points along it.

Hi Kamin-

How are defining the artifical tendon and how are you joining it to the muscle? Are you using an intermediate body between them?
It may help if you drew (or screen cap) a schematic of your design to give feedback.

Cheers,
