Changing Segment Frame Location and Orientation

Post by hans kainz » Sun Sep 27, 2015 9:35 pm

Hello all,

I want to change the location of the segment frame relative to the geometry (e.g. bone). In the generic OpenSim model the segment frame of the femur is located at the hip joint center. I built a model based on MRI images and therefore the segment frames are somewhere outside the bone geometry (due to the global MRI reference frame) and I want to move the segment frame to match the position of the hip joint center.
I can move the joint child and parent frames but it does not change the position of the segment frame relative to the geometry (bone). Does somebody have an idea how I could solve my problem?

Thank you very much for your help.
Hans

There really isn't a mechanism to do this in OpenSim (changing the implicit frame location of a piece of geometry). You will need a mesh editing piece of software to do this.
