Low Joint Reaction Force

I ran the analysis function to estimate joint contact loads of the hip on the acetabulum in the femur during pathological gait and got a joint reaction of 0.4BW. The patient's gait appears to have a clear stance phase so clearly less than 1BW is not accurate.
What are the steps to take to generate a more accurate estimation and secondly, what methods do people use to validate their output? I assume my muscles forces are reduced in the SO step but I want to know what steps I can take to rectify this issue.
Note: I ran the same method on the contralateral (healthy) hip and got a 'more accurate' estimation of joint contact loads (2.8BW).
Thanks
Jas
