CPU Speed vs # of cores

Post by Daniel Gordon » Wed May 02, 2018 9:41 am

I have been doing a large number of CMC simulations recently, and I was just wondering what would be better for this: more cores or fewer but faster cores?

I believe CMC is still done in one core, at least in Opensim 3.3. So speed before numbers there.

Ah I see, so in OpenSim 4.0 there may be support for simulations over multiple cores?

Also, if I had say 2 2GHz cores vs. 4 1GHz cores, would either be faster assuming I did one CMC simulation per core?

Sorry, I realise these questions aren't necessarily OpenSim specific.
