Automated joint axis optimization

Post by Christopher Lee » Tue Apr 29, 2008 4:31 am

Hello you all,

My Goal is to check out the utility of the subtalar joint Axis POSITION in the human foot (with the gait2392example)...

Basically, I am able now to modify my model (change the axis orientation), to do an Inverse Kinematic with the new model (normal Gait) and I am looking to the root mean square error between the real marker position and the marker position of my model. This give me information on how good is the model copying the reality.

Now I want to do a sort of automated optimization of this procedure by changing my models axis step by step and redo the IK for every model.

Does someone know if I can use some kind of scripts, or macros, or directly call Opensim to do things like that in Matlab for example or in a shell???
And then how will I have access to the squared error information I need?

Does someone know how the actual axis position and orientation was found for the gait2392 example? I assume this optimization step was already done to get to the actual Axis?

Thank you,

Christopher
