Creating abnormal gait pattern from existing model

Post by Adrian Derungs » Mon Oct 01, 2018 10:20 am

Dear all,

I work with OpenSim 3.3 and investigate existing models, particularly the 2392 model. I would like
to use the existing 2392 model and generate a pathological gait as it could occur in stroke patients.
The pathological stroke gait is characterised by one body side which is paralysed (hemiparesis).
Could I use the 2392 (or another model) to generate such a abnormal gait pattern? If so, what
would be the best way, e.g. restricting joints and run the inverse kinematics? Or could I
change muscle properties and use the CMC tool?
Even one step further, could I somehow generate muscle excitation patterns
to change the 2392 model such that an abnormal gait pattern results?

I do not have the possibility to access a Vicon based system, hence existing models are the starting
point for me.

I appreciate any information which allow me to investigate the possibilities of OpenSim and thank in advance.

Best regards,

Adrian

You could look at using public data, like this; https://simtk.org/projects/cp-child-gait
