I have a model that has several joint with three degrees of freedom each. I would like to know if it is possible to leave some degrees of freedom unlocked (so that they can still move) but then not solving for them in the Static Optimization analysis.
For example, could I allow the forearm to rotate about its long axis and the flexion/extension axis of the elbow, but then only make Static Optimization solve for the flexion/extension degree of freedom? I suspect that this could be achieved with Reserve Actuators, but I have not been able to make the Reserve Actuators preferentially activate over the muscles that have a moment arm about the same axis.
Please ask if this is not clear.
Any help appreciated,
Joe
