Dear SimVascular Developers,
To set the inlet boundary condition, I intend to use the Womersley profile with a variable flow rate waveform. Considering this fact, I have two questions as follows:
1) As I know, for Womersley profile the inflow waveform can be considered based on variable pressure or flow rate. However, I do not know which one has been implemented in SimVascular. If there are both of them, I do not know how I can distinguish them from each other when I want to set relevant parameters in SimVascular.
2) I am going to use a flow rate waveform based on the form of the Fourier coefficients. However, I do not know the exact formulation to compute velocity field and flow rate based on Womersley profile in your code.
Finally, I would be so grateful if you could answer the mentioned questions.
Kind Regards,
Saeid

Re: Womersley profile
Hello Saeid,
The Womersley profile is calculated using Fourier coefficients from the flow waveform. You cannot specify the terms directly in the GUI, you need to provide a flow file with the format:
time_0 value_0
time_1 value_1
....
time_N value N
where the entire flow waveform [0,T] -> T = period, has been defined.
Note that the sign on the flow rate matters.

Re: Womersley profile
Dear Dr. Wilson
Thanks for your useful response.
I also would like to know the exact mathematical formulation for velocity field and flow rate implemented in SimVascular for evaluation of the Womersley profile which is calculated using Fourier coefficients from the flow waveform.
I would be so pleased if you could guide me about this issue.
Kind regards,
Saeid
