Deformable wall divergence
Hello,
I'm trying to do the simulation with "http://simvascular.github.io/clinicalCase2.html" (Aortofemoral Normal - 2). I'm have imported the downloaded paths and segmentations on a new project and I have created the model from it.
The simulation worked fine with the rigid wall model (the pressure value seems to be reasonable) but with constant deformable wall (with default properties' parameters), the pressure diverges and increases exponentially (until NAN value). Do you have an idea of the origin of the divergence ?
Thank you in advance,
Have a nice day,
Ruiyi

Re: Deformable wall divergence
Hello Ruiyi,
what are your initial conditions for the deformable wall simulation? You should be using your rigid wall simulation results as initial conditions for the deformable wall simulation. Starting form zero initial conditions may result in divergence of your simulation.
You can find the details on how to export your rigid wall simulation results and use them as initial conditions for your deformable simulations in http://simvascular.github.io/docsFlowSolver.html (Simulation Guide/Examples).
Let me know if that doesn't solve your issue.

Re: Deformable wall divergence
Hello Noelia,
Thank you for your answer. The inital pressure value was not at zero, I don't know if I have to change other initial conditions. Please see attached the initial conditions.
Thank you in advance,

Hi Ruiyi,
I think you are missing the initial conditions file (IC File, Row 3 on Basic parameters tab). You should input here the exported results from your rigid simulation. You can see how to export your rigid simulation results here http://simvascular.github.io/docsFlowSolver.html (Simulation Guide/Examples).
Let me know if you have issue exporting your results.
Have a nice day,

Hello,
I added the initial conditions file (restart.7000.0) but the results are still diverging. Do you have an idea of the origin of the divergence ?
Thank you in advance,
Have a nice day !

Re: Deformable wall divergence
Hello and happy new year !
I tried again and also on another model but I still have the same problem (pressure divergence). I didn't say that I have an error during the creation of the simulation files because I still have the deplacement file, but perhaps this is the cause ? (please see the attached file).
If you can help me, I would be very grateful.
Thank you in advance,
Have a nice day,
Ruiyi

Hello,
I really need your help !!! Perhaps you can suggest me some way to understand the origin of the problem ?
Thank you in advance !

Re: Deformable wall divergence
Hi Ruiyi,
I followed the CylinderProject tutorial Example 3 from the SimVascular website and saw the same error messages that you did. However, the simulation did finish OK. I was wondering if you have tried to run the simulation for Example 3, if that finished OK?
What OS are you running your simulations on?
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Deformable wall divergence
Hi Dave,
Thank you for your answer. I didn't try to run the simulation on Example 3, I'm going to try it at once !
I'm running on Windows 7 with the last update.
Have a nice day,
Ruiyi
