Muscle Force

Post by hongjie hou » Tue May 14, 2019 4:21 am

Hello everyone,
I want to know the detailed calculation process of muscle force. I do not know how to determine the force-length relation and force-velocity relation of muscle. is there any method to determine the data?
thanks,
hongjie

You can find information and citations in the "Muscle Model Theory and Publications" section of the Confluence documentation (https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8 ... blications). See, for example:
- Zajac, F.E. (1989) Muscle and tendon: properties, models, scaling, and application to biomechanics and motor control. Critical Reviews in Biomedical Engineering, 17(4):359-411. http://europepmc.org/abstract/MED/2676342
- Millard et al. (2013) Flexing computational muscle: modeling and simulation of musculotendon dynamics. ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 135(2):021005. https://doi.org/10.1115/1.4023390
I do not know how to determine the force-length relation and force-velocity relation of muscle. is there any method to determine the data?
Please see the papers referenced in Millard et al. (2013) and listed at the bottom of this page: https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8 ... don+Curves.

Hi Thomas

Thanks for the reply.I hava found active force-length relationship and passive force-length relationship. But I don't seem to find force-velocity relationship. And What is the relationship between 'Af' and 'force-velocity curve'?Where can I find the relationship between for force-velocity curve. It seems that the formula for f-v is not given in the literature.

Based on your third attachment, I assume you are using the Thelen2003Muscle model. Please see the following references:
