Good afternoon,
I want to run some simulation on a model I have made in SimVascular and then modify in Solidworks and then export as .stl. But I have a problem, I can open the .stl file with the open file tool but I can't import it inside a project as a model. Is it another way to run simulation than import it inside a project or a way for me to do it.
Attached are screenshots of my terminal.
Thank you in advance,
Guillaume

Re: Problem openning STL files
Hi Guillaume,
You can import the STL file directly into your project's **Models Tool** by right-clicking on **Models-> Import Solid Model**. This will create of PolyData solid model. If the STL mesh is closed (capped at vessel inlets/outlets) then SV will detect the faces. If it is not closed then you can use **Fill Holes w. IDs** in the **Model Tool** to cap the mesh.
Note that STL representations of solid models can be poorly tessellated so there may be a problem meshing them.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Problem openning STL files
Hi Dave,
Thank you very much, the problem was the type was .STL, which SimVascular has issue to deal with the Right click>Import solid model, and not a .stl
And I actually have issue to mesh my model, as you said, so do you know if I could use a better type of file to make it easier ?
Thank you in advance,
Guillaume

Re: Problem openning STL files
Hi Guillaume,
So you were already importing using the **Model Tool -> Import Solid Model** and it did not give you a warning that it did not recognize .STL? That is a bug and I'll open a GitHub issue on that.
You should export the model in STEP format (.step file type). SV should be able to import that file using the Open Cascade solid modeler. You can then convert the model to PolyData in the **Modeling Tool** and then mesh it.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Yes it seems that capital letters in the file's type are not welcomed. It did not gave me any warning, I could import it but then nothing happened.
Thank you very much, I will try it.
