OpenSim crashing during load
I was running OpenSim this morning with no problems. However I believe I exited while it was running either inverse kinematics or scaling and no it won't open. The prompt comes up and then the next window with the status bar at the bottom. But when It gets to "Starting Modules" it crashes.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times but it still has the same issue.

RE: OpenSim crashing during load
Happens frequently.
Try opening task manager and then kill any "java" and "opensim" process you find.
OpenSim won't start as long as another OpenSim task uses the same ressources.

RE: OpenSim crashing during load
Are you running Version 2.0.1? I don't think this version is more stable then previous version, my friend suggested me to use the 1.9.3 until they really have some stable version for us. I tried Gati2354 model in Version 2.0.1, even then examples it came with, I could run the CMC step, but in version 1.9.3, it could run normal...
Thanks.

I don't see any java or opensim running. Also I tried restarting my computer and running it with no success which I assume does the same thing.

RE: OpenSim crashing during load
I am running OpenSim 2 (which I assume is 2.0.1). Where can I get 1.9.3?
RE: OpenSim crashing during load
Sorry, i was wrong, it's not 1.9.3, it's 1.9.1.
on the download page, https://simtk.org/project/xml/downloads.xml?group_id=91
Clicking the url, "List all previous releases", you would see the downloadable address.
Sorry to mislead. Shame on me.

RE: OpenSim crashing during load
Thanks. I actually just tried installing 2.0.1 in a different directory (instead of the same one again) and it worked this time. Not sure what is still be associated with the original directory, but at least I can get back to work.
If I have stability issues with it I'll try reverting back again.
Thanks

Mark,
You could remove the folder .opensim (that keeps track of some GUI status info). It lives under
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming (on Vista) or under C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Application Data (XP)
Please remove it and retry.
Please let me know if that resolves your problem,

That didn't do it either. Also, in case you didn't know AppData folder is hidden in Windows7 so if anyone else is trying to do this they need to make hidden folders visible to find it.

RE: OpenSim crashing during load
Mark,
Glad you got it to work by installing in another directory. For the first folder where you had the problem, can you please report a bug (using help->Report Bug) and attach the log file (hs_err*.log) created by the GUI on startup.
Thanks for the investigation and will let you know as we know more.
