Simvascular compatibility with M1 chip in Mac

Post by Mostafa Mahmoudi » Tue Jul 12, 2022 10:02 am

Hello everyone,

I've been writing all my codes in iOS for the last 4 years. I'm moving to a new lab and wanted to order a new iMac but all of them now only have M1 chip instead of Intel. I was wondering if Simvascular software is compatible with M1 chip? I mostly use GenBC in Simvascular and before ordering the new iMac I wanted to make sure that SV works on M1.

Also, other comments and advice on M1 chip is appreciated!

Best,
Mostafa

Hi Mostafa,

The current SV MacOS version is built on Catalina (10.15.7) with the Intel chip. It runs fine on MacOS with the M1 chip, the solvers also run with no problems. We currently don't build SV directly on MacOS with the M1 chip and won't support that for some time but I don't think what should be a problem.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Mostafa,

I was successful in running SimVascular solver with a single processor, but mpirun ran into some errors, possibly due to the M1 chip. You can take a look here: viewtopicPhpbb.php?f=188&t=14348&p=0&st ... a843b01c2c
