OpenSim in VirtualBox

Post by Andrey Bugarin » Sat Jul 10, 2010 11:31 pm

Good evening,

I am trying to run OpenSim from within VirtualBox, with Windows XP.

I installed the software, but for any model that I open, it's just possible to see a red sphere in view window..

It could be a problem of VirtualBox or I am missing something?

Thanks.

i dont know if it is because of the virtual box. but you can try changing the muscle and marker display radii from the "edit--> preferences" menu and restarting opensim.
my values are 0.01. hope this helps.

Is the "regional settings" problem, quite common on non US PC.
You need to change regional settings from your local to US in the control panel.

Andrea

P.S.
I suggest to put this small suggestion at the start of the Opensim Manual...

This should not be a problem with Virtualbox. I often use OpenSim in a Windows XP guest on Ubuntu Linux and have yet to experience any problems. Andrea is probably right.

yes chris,
the problem is indeed solved by changing the settings from local to english(us). Works great now!
thanks again Andrea and Chris!
